THE FARMER'S MARKET
TODAY’S SUCCESS OF FARMER’S MARKETS
Nowadays, it is
very rare to see farmers market scatter all over the country especially during
the summer. As people begin to gain more knowledge about health eating, more
farmer begins to set up tents and tables to sell their produce. The Farmer’s
market is an open space, where people around Chicago sellers their own products
from different countries. it opens every Thursday from 7am to 2am to offer
shoppers locally sourced fruits, vegetables, baked goods, flowers, herbs, and
cheeses.
My first
impression at the Farmer’s Market on Thursday was incredible. Anaya, Erica,
Victoria and I firstly check around the place we also looked at the flowers
(pumpkin flowers), the different kinds of fruits, we also saw different kinds
of baked goods, herbs, ginger beers.
A farmer’s market is a wonderful adventure for
the sense. The best part is that the market changes with the season, so each
the opportunity to participate in a different senatorial adventure. The farmers
market is full of smells. Takes them all In as I visit each counter. When I pick
out something to smell, such as, an herb, flowers and fruit. When I have an
opportunity to see different shapes, colors, movement, and textures while
wandering around the farmers market. Compare and contrast the different colors
of fruit, vegetable, baked product and flowers. There are many different sounds
around the market including people talking, car honing, water fountain and
train sounds. I first tried a sample of food from an Asian counter we had a cup
that as rice and fish that as some mayonnaise on top. It tastes nasty. After
that Anaya, Erica and Victoria and I saw a smoothie counter next to it. We
brought a cup of smoothie that cost 8 dollars we all shared it taste good. I
also can touch a variety thing in different counter like, fruits, vegetables,
herbs and different kinds of things.
One of the stands I
saw two men standing next to the subway station named Zack and Nick they were
selling ginger beers. They have a long table that as a blue cloth on top of it.
I also saw a small cooler next to the table. They have a big umbrella on top of
the counter, they also have a big poster behind the counter that says ginger
beer with a picture of server ginger beer picture. Zack and Nick a
website(windmillgingerboew.com). the most interesting part about drinking
ginger beer is that they are the first beer that doesn’t have alcohol in it but
tastes like it does.
While I was
interviewing Zack and Nick. They told me that they have been working in the farmer’s
market since May 2019. They also distribute 120 different ginger beers to
different restaurant, and they also come to the farmer’s market every Thursday
from 7am to 2 pm. They have different can of ginger beer like blood orange,
Hibiscus vanilla, blueberry, pomegranate rosemary, mango, and original. My
favorite one is the pomegranate rosemary is sweet and sour at the same time.
